MARLINSPIKE works with sculpture as part of the architectural decision-making process. Projects are typically engaged once intent and spatial logic are clear, but before thresholds, circulation, and material systems are resolved. This timing allows sculptural work to develop alongside the building, shaped by structure, movement, and use.

The studio’s work is grounded in disciplined process and material intelligence. Sculptural systems are developed to shape how places are experienced and remembered over time, through sequence, rhythm, and material behaviour.

Studio Structure

MARLINSPIKE operates as a studio and commercial entity responsible for commissioning, delivery, and integration.

Jaco Roeloffs is the lead artist and conceptual author, guiding material strategy, narrative, and spatial intent.

All work is contracted, scoped, and delivered under the MARLINSPIKE framework. Creative authorship is treated as a professional service, with clear accountability maintained from early framing through to completion.
