Jaco works at the intersection of sculpture, architecture, and fabrication, with a long-standing interest in how materials behave, how people move through space, and how built environments are experienced over time. His work is grounded in material logic, spatial sequence, and an understanding of how buildings are used day to day.

Before establishing MARLINSPIKE, Jaco’s professional background spanned commissioned sculptural work, fabrication-led collaboration, and extended experience within industrial and project-based environments. This has shaped an approach that is attentive to buildability, coordination, and long-term performance, alongside conceptual clarity.

All MARLINSPIKE projects are led directly by Jaco from early framing through to delivery. This ensures continuity of intent, clear authorship, and a consistent point of accountability throughout the life of a project.

The studio operates as a focused practice that scales through collaboration. Engineers, fabricators, and specialist consultants are engaged as required, according to project needs. This structure allows work to remain precise, integrated, and responsive to context without expanding into unnecessary layers.
